Hatton’s back! This time he’s bringing old time Somethingcast Alum Podcast Rob, remember him?
We have some show updates as well as we take it to the ring to discuss Netflix’s and Jenji Kohen’s big summer party. Driving in a wood panel van straight into the 80’s with the big hair, big gimmicks, and big coke addictions… that’s right – it’s GLOW time!
So what do the boys think of the squared circle filled with the ladies and Marc Maron? Well you should settle in and find out.
Ok, here we go!
What’s going on everyone.
This week, the Somethings had the pleasure to hang out with Kevin Gootee, a stand-up who is doing something pretty original on Amazon Prime.
Every episode features one or two stand-ups doing a set while Kevin and his panel talk about what they did right and what they did wrong. From constructive criticism to out and out wrecking, for a fan of comedy, it is a unique take on the artform.
If you haven’t seen it, the new season is going to be appearing any minute now… but until then, catch up with Seasons 1 – 4 and then go follow Kevin Gootee (@KevinGootee) or go checkout the site at Comics Watching Comics.
Last but not least – if you are a stand-up comic who wants to give it a shot.. first, go watch the show. Trust us, know what you are walking into. Then, submit your information to firstname.lastname@example.org – you must have been a working comic for the last three years, but if you think you got it… you go get it!
And again, thanks Kevin for hanging.
Ok, here we go!
Hey thanks for understanding the lateness. LET US NEVER DISCUSS IT AGAIN!
When a movie starts, ‘Two cops with nothing left to lose’ or ‘Two best friends on a mission’ or ‘An unlikely duo of…’
Well, that’s a buddy flick and it’s a sub-genre unto itself. Hell, this show is pretty much a buddy flick turned audio.
So join a hard-nosed cop on a mission, and an unlikely best friend with nothing left to lose as Podcast Rob and Hatton take a cross country trip as fast as they can through the PodscapeVerse. Party time, excellent!
Ok, here we go!
PS: We now have our first sponsor, be sure to check out AudibleTrial.com/something for great audiobooks and a bonus!
♫ In the not too distant future…
On Thursday on Netflix…
The Mads are at it again! This time, they’ve taken the Somethings hostage and before they can be set free they have to review their favorite episodes of the B-Movie-Riffathon of MST3k!
Ok, so there are no Mad Scientists. There’s no SOL. There’s simply an episode of your favorite podcast. That doesn’t mean it isn’t a topic after their own heart, and with the new season coming out Thursday on Netflix, no better time to talk about it!
So repeat to yourself it’s just a show, and you should really just relax… unless you listen to us in your car. Then don’t relax, that would be horrible.
Hey apparently people think we’re neat.
We were recently contacted by a couple cool cats from the upcoming webseries You Again – and we got not just a sneak peek of their show, but a chance to talk with them about the process.
Meet Audra – lil bit crazy, and Zander – lil bit nerdy. They’re about to move in together because .. well.. because Audra.
Be sure to check out Their Website right here, and their Youtube Page to learn all about the behind the scenes and see the first episode coming July 6th.
As nerdy types, we’ve all kind of thought to ourselves ‘So, who would win.. Hulk or Superman’ or ‘Iron Man vs. Everyone on the Titanic’ – well, a small team headed off by two massively talented rappers have taken the youtubes by storm by pitting famous characters and people from all throughout time and space against each other. I was going to try and put a rhymey rappy introduction to this week’s episode to keep it thematic, but seriously, it would have been horrible and you would have made fun of me for it.. and you all do that enough, so just imagine this all rhymes. Orange.
And if you want to listen to all the Epic Rap Battles – find them HERE!

This episode started as was planned. The Somethings had a list, they were ready to riff on some stuff they knew about.. and lo and behold it all changed in one fail swoop. One of the Somethings decided that he should blindside the other Something into an entire episode about .. well .. one of the Somethings. Apparently, a webcomic’s 10 year anniversary was enough of a reason to go all James Lipton on what should have been a podcast about dragons. FINE. THANK YOU. I GUESS… Geez.
Anyway – yes, this podcast focuses mostly on the life and times of one James Hatton, webcomic creator, and all around nifty guy. You like dots? This episode has TONS of em’.
…rassum frassum good friends don’t nice things …
So Hatton & Rob were damned if they did and damned if they didn’t. With a show ready to be recorded this week, they saw the sad news of the passing of comedy legend Robin Williams. So what are two moderately amusing podcasters to do? Wait a few weeks to do their tribute show and reopen the wound or do the show and fearfully ponder if they’ll get hit with the curse of ‘Too Soon’?
So they took their brand new logo, and threw caution to the wind, talking about their five favorite Robin movies. They also spoke in the 3rd person for some reason.
Welcome to Year 2 of The SomethingSomethingCast.

Take my podcast… PLEASE!
The Somethings are coming to you straight from the borscht-belt with a selection of other people’s fine entertainment. You see, you don’t just become as funny as the Somethings are by not examining the craft of comedy. To be the geniuses that they know themselves to be (and then implicate you in the knowing since you keep listening) you have to know who is damn funny… so basically two jackasses with microphones are going to tell you who is better to listen to than they are. Aren’t they swell?
Ok, here we go!

So for the first time in the Somethingcast’s long and sordid catalog, we take a look on the career of Harold Ramis, whom the world was sad to have lost this passed year. It is easy to say and recognize that without the work and stylings of Mr. Ramis, we would have a lot less funny things to talk about.
Share and enjoy! (Since you’re asking, that’s a Multiplicity joke)
Ok, here we go…
Parts on hold until someone tells me they use them.
