Before we get to the episode itself, from the Somethings to you – we hope you have a safe and happy holiday, no matter where you are or how you spend it.
Now, since there is a very good chance you aren’t going to get to have your big blow-out Christmas Extravaganza, why not travel back in time with the Somethings to when we did just that live on the air. It is a lot less episode and a more like your group of friends hanging out at the end of the party, bloated with Nog and Cheer.
So come join the Something Christmas Party with MARCUS, ERIC, and TONY back from 2016.
Ok, here we GO HO HO!
Happy Holidays Throwback month continues with an episode where we discuss movies that are… Christmas-ish. Sure, of course we all know about your Miracle on 34ths and your It’s a Wonderfuls, but everyone talks about those. We’re the Somethings – we need to take it a little bit further.
Also, if you are not the type that goes to websites anymore (who does that, anyway) – do us a favor and head to the site somethingcast.com and check out the new look for the website. More changes are coming, so keep coming back!
Ready for the jelly of the month club? Okay, here we go ho ho…
Remember back when the must-see event of any Christmas season was Doctor Who and Sherlock? We do, and we sometimes think back to those halcyon days of the early 2010s and remember fondly sitting around the hearth with our kin and arguing blitheringly about whether or not they were good.
That’s precisely what we do here, from Episode 59 where we hung out with Meredith Placko and Emma Fyffe and talked about the 2016 BBC specials.
So settle in, get your nog, and join us for some YuleTide Nitpicking, in the way only the Somethings could make charming…
Ok, here we Ho! Ho! Ho!
Sure, it’s early, but we’re taking next month off – so we gotta get it in somewhere.
And since everyone is getting themselves all stuff prepared, we decided to hit a a movie that had a strange beginning, but has found its place as a Christmas Traditional for weirdos… it is the scariest Christmas Carol ever put to film – SCROOGED! (I heard an old lady had a heart attack)
So join in the festivities as the Somethings discuss whether this was a well-received holiday tradition (like cranberries in a can) – or the kind of thing you tolerate just because it’s the holidays (like hugging the weird aunt that always smells like cat pee)
It’s time to be visited by three ghosts and two Somethings, so you best change your ways…. Scrooged!
It’s SomethingSpooky as we head into October!
To start us off on our month of haunting spectaculars is heading back to the well of horror. We’ve talked franchises, we’ve talked villains, we’ve talked horror battle royale – but we’ve never out and out just talked about our favorite horror movies.
So this week, Podcast Rob and Hatton are grabbing their masks, their machetes, their chainsaws, and their sexy sexy costumes and getting ready to spend an hour jawing about their favorite scary flicks.
Ok, here we go!
On this festive occasion, we celebrate one of the most festive movies of all time. When there is no room at the inn, we head to the Nakatome Plaza for a festive business party gone awry.
So settle in around the yule log and drink some nog. Yippe Kay Aye Mr. Falcon!
Ok, Cheer we go!
It is a yearly Something Tradition – the IJOV.NET Somethingcast Christmas Party!
So get yourself some rum-laden nog, light the fire, and do what everyone does during the beginning of the season of giving. Put on headphones and listen to your friends prattle on about holidays and the year that has passed while you get black-out loaded.
And before we get to the episode, two things for you.. good news and bad news.
The bad news is that this is our last episode for the year. As always, we take our break for Christmas, so it is a perfect time to go back and go grab the episode you missed and use it to fill the Something-Shaped hole in your heart.
The good news is that we are starting our Patreon this month, so no better time to get in, hear the beginnings of our new radio drama and our new micro-show which is going to be a little something about history.
But for now… thank you for being here and we can’t wait to get back in the studio.
♫ Oh you better watch out..
You better not cry…
You better listen to this episode
Or not.. whatever, I’m not your HR Rep ♫
Joining us from the IJOV – we have Marcus from Deadpan Fury, we have Eric from Two-Legged Tie, and we have Tony from Nyrdcast – and we decide to have ourselves a little Christmas Party. What goes on from there is… well.. I would love to say it is an episode about our favorite Christmas memories and shows and movies, but it isn’t… it’s almost better. It’s a bunch of idiots getting together and spreading some holiday buffoonery.
So enjoy everyone – and from Rob & Hatton, have a happy holidays.
Happy Something Year!
We’re back with our first show of 2016, and the boys are bringing a couple fantastic guests to sit and talk about the wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey holiday spirit on Baker Street… that’s right, we’re talking some BBC’ness big numbers shows of Doctor Who and Sherlock – but specifically this year’s big Christmas / New Years episodes.
Along the way we found two wonderful women floating about in the aether of the internet who know a thing or two about a thing or two. Meredith Placko (@mplacko), writer at GEEK.COM, and PopCornTalk’s Marvel Movie News. And sitting in studio (Not our studio.. but *A* studio) with Meredith is Emma Fyffe (@emmafyffe). You might know Emma from PopcornTalk, AfterBuzzTV, and her Sailor Moon Podcast, Love & Justice. Find all her goings on at her Tumblr.
Ok – see, and this is why we don’t have guests with pedigrees.. do you know how long it took me to get all that linkage in. That’s it. No more really awesome guests. It’s like this is becoming work….
But back to the episode – WHAT DID THE BOYS THINK? WHAT DID THE GIRLS THINK? WHAT DID YOU THINK?
