Let’s paint a mind picture.
You enjoy a thing.. perhaps a podcast where two schmucks from NJ babble incoherently twice a month (with more on the way). You go to the comment section and realize that the uber-fans are gatekeeping your ability to comment about what your favorite episode is. They’ve already made the decision that it’s ‘One Hit Wonders‘ and any attempt to argue that is brought about with name calling and assumptions about not only your taste, but your class as a human.
That’s toxic fandom, and maybe… if perhaps you’ve been on the internet and enjoyed anything ever… you’ve probably bumped into it.
So join the boys as we settle in with some of our favorite people, from Afterbuzz.Tv, Megan Salinas (@TheMenguin) and Katie Cullen (@Kiaxet)! From some of the blowback on Voltron Season 7, to being female nerds on the internet, they have seen their fair share of toxicity
So settle in, grab your pitchforks, and avoid Tumblr at all costs…. and when you’re done be sure to check out their Youtube channel Silver Screams
Ok, here we go…
The boys are back with another journey into their not-guilty-at-all favorites.
Time and time again they have mentioned that on their off hours, when not slaving away over a hot podcast, they can be found slaving away over a hot television, watching amazing chefs (and not so amazing chefs) make amazing concoctions.
Rob knows his way around a kitchen… Hatton knows his way around the kitchen to go sit in the living room, but they do both have a love of reality cooking shows. So bring your appetite, because the boys are going down the line of the reality cooking shows that they will watch when nothing else is on, or when a bunch of things are on… if you don’t know how to make a crepe suzette by the end of this episode, that’s probably for the best, because at no point in time during the show do we mention crepe suzette.
Ok, here we go…
Hatton’s back! This time he’s bringing old time Somethingcast Alum Podcast Rob, remember him?
We have some show updates as well as we take it to the ring to discuss Netflix’s and Jenji Kohen’s big summer party. Driving in a wood panel van straight into the 80’s with the big hair, big gimmicks, and big coke addictions… that’s right – it’s GLOW time!
So what do the boys think of the squared circle filled with the ladies and Marc Maron? Well you should settle in and find out.
Ok, here we go!
Happy Podcast Day! (That’s not a holiday.. it’s just a day where you get the podcast. There will be cake, though)
Hatton is here again with another journey into a new piece of fiction and a review of Westworld Season 2
If you haven’t jumped into the wild westy world, stick around to hear a fairy tale. He reads that first. Then hang out as we discuss all the twists, the turns, the timelines, with Hatton as host! (That has two meanings here.)
Rob and I have started PILOT SEASON over at the SomethingCast Patreon. And you can help out Rob at his GoFundMe.
Also, this episode is being SIMULPOSTED at HattonStuff.com!
Ok, here we go!
What’s going on everyone.
This week, the Somethings had the pleasure to hang out with Kevin Gootee, a stand-up who is doing something pretty original on Amazon Prime.
Every episode features one or two stand-ups doing a set while Kevin and his panel talk about what they did right and what they did wrong. From constructive criticism to out and out wrecking, for a fan of comedy, it is a unique take on the artform.
If you haven’t seen it, the new season is going to be appearing any minute now… but until then, catch up with Seasons 1 – 4 and then go follow Kevin Gootee (@KevinGootee) or go checkout the site at Comics Watching Comics.
Last but not least – if you are a stand-up comic who wants to give it a shot.. first, go watch the show. Trust us, know what you are walking into. Then, submit your information to email@example.com – you must have been a working comic for the last three years, but if you think you got it… you go get it!
And again, thanks Kevin for hanging.
Ok, here we go!
It’s time to go back to the umop apisdn (that doesn’t work if you use a weird font) ..anyway, it’s time to head on back and see what’s going on in the eeriest of Indiana’s – that’s right, Netflix’s bingers dream has returned for nine more episodes of small town life with a Lovecrafty spin.
So find out what the boys thought about the return of all of the kids we know with a few folks we were equal parts thrilled and horrified to see.
So get your eggos and settle in – it’s time to get our paddles.
Ok, here we demigo!
Take the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. A loud-mouthed P.I. with superpowers. A bullet-proof man who swears to watch out for Harlem. And.. ..well.. Danny Rand.
Push them together and what do you get – you get us bringing back the Somethingcast’s favorite guest, Mr. Ungajje himself, Tim Stevens!
As always, when the binge-worthy Marvel World rears its color-coded head, we breakdown what’s going on – what we like – what we hate – and Tim brings up the average intelligence by knowing a lot more about the source material than either of us.
So settle in and find out if this show is worth Defending. Afterwards, head over to TimStevensIsUngajje to find out what more is going on with our ducet-toned bestie.
NOTE: Please forgive the mistake in this episode… I think it makes it funnier, but I forgot to add in a critical sound-effect. It’s always something, am I right?
This is it! We did it!
So what do we do.. we throw a party with two friends from the Inside Joke Outside Voice Network.
We got Rich from Married Marks and Eric from Two-Legged Tie and we just hang out and argue a bit.
What would you expect from us, really?
From ice cream flavors to top tv shows. It really is a party with a bunch of people who like to talk to each other.
Am I making you chomp at the bit for more? Oh, you better be… because here we go!
Ok here we go… and go.. and go… and we are celebrating our Year 4.
Where in years gone by we have found our way to the fabulous Wildpig Comics, this year there just wasn’t a lot to discuss when it came to the comic universes.. so we decided to have an episode where we create our own.
So we got Bill Ellis, manager of Wildpig and longtime friend of the show and Jay Sandlin, new friend of the show and writer of Outbreak Mutiny, as well as a regular contributor to Buzzfeed! I’m also leaving a link here to this article, but you might want to wait til the end of the episode to click on it… trust us.
Let me (Hatton here) take a quick moment to say a thank you to every one of you that has listened over the years and has gotten us here. It is because of you folks that we do it and thanks for being there. As we crest our fourth year and our next episode is that big ol’ triple digit, it is stereotypical, but totally true, that without you, there would be no us. So thanks everyone.
Enough prattling – let’s get on with the show.
Ok, here we go!
We all like ourselves a little bit of television.
We also like ourselves the earworms that lodge into your head for 30 minutes and beyond. So Hatton’s taken a few. Rob’s taken a few. And they are going head to head to find out who has the best line-up.
And a battle as important as this needs an important guest. So we got our friend and co-host of ‘THIS IS IMPORTANT‘, Kyle!
If you are looking to find other interesting and random things match up, be sure to check-out Steve & Kyle’s show, and get updates on their Twitter
For now though – find out who won the THEME MUSIC CHALLENGE!
