SomethingCast Episode 125 – Superhero Teams

WELCOME TO SEPTEMBER!
We have a few things to talk about, and we get into it in the first ten of the episode, but maybe you read these things… do you? I never know.
Anyway, September is an important month for the Somethings.. we are now EVERY GAW’DARN WEEK! ..sort of.
Every week on your RSS Feed (or however you get your Something) you are going to get 4 “shows”
SomethingCast – Our bread and butter format of babbling incoherently about weird things we like.
Dramatic-ish Readings – A unique monologue featuring characters that weren’t in the movie you’re listening to.
Something In Review – A new review of a new or old film, revisited or discussed for the first time!
The End – Where we watch the last episode of a show.. again, sometimes without having seen anything else.
But today, you get SUPERHEROES! More specifically, Superhero Teams. There have been hundreds of teams and line-ups of teams, and we settle in and discuss some of our favorites. Whether you dig on Byrne’s X-Men or Giffen’s Justice League, there is likely some detail we have screwed up.
So put on your cape, because it’s time to fly…
Ok, here we go!
Episode 124 – Toxic Fandom
Tagged 2018, guests, Movies, TV
Let’s paint a mind picture.
You enjoy a thing.. perhaps a podcast where two schmucks from NJ babble incoherently twice a month (with more on the way). You go to the comment section and realize that the uber-fans are gatekeeping your ability to comment about what your favorite episode is. They’ve already made the decision that it’s ‘One Hit Wonders‘ and any attempt to argue that is brought about with name calling and assumptions about not only your taste, but your class as a human.
That’s toxic fandom, and maybe… if perhaps you’ve been on the internet and enjoyed anything ever… you’ve probably bumped into it.
So join the boys as we settle in with some of our favorite people, from Afterbuzz.Tv, Megan Salinas (@TheMenguin) and Katie Cullen (@Kiaxet)! From some of the blowback on Voltron Season 7, to being female nerds on the internet, they have seen their fair share of toxicity
So settle in, grab your pitchforks, and avoid Tumblr at all costs…. and when you’re done be sure to check out their Youtube channel Silver Screams

Episode 123 – Reality Cooking
Tagged 2018, TV
The boys are back with another journey into their not-guilty-at-all favorites.
Time and time again they have mentioned that on their off hours, when not slaving away over a hot podcast, they can be found slaving away over a hot television, watching amazing chefs (and not so amazing chefs) make amazing concoctions.
Rob knows his way around a kitchen… Hatton knows his way around the kitchen to go sit in the living room, but they do both have a love of reality cooking shows. So bring your appetite, because the boys are going down the line of the reality cooking shows that they will watch when nothing else is on, or when a bunch of things are on… if you don’t know how to make a crepe suzette by the end of this episode, that’s probably for the best, because at no point in time during the show do we mention crepe suzette.

Episode 122 – Hanging w. Kyle Hester

Episode 121 – Glow Season Two
Tagged 2018, netflix, TV, WrestlingHatton’s back! This time he’s bringing old time Somethingcast Alum Podcast Rob, remember him?
We have some show updates as well as we take it to the ring to discuss Netflix’s and Jenji Kohen’s big summer party. Driving in a wood panel van straight into the 80’s with the big hair, big gimmicks, and big coke addictions… that’s right – it’s GLOW time!
So what do the boys think of the squared circle filled with the ladies and Marc Maron? Well you should settle in and find out.

HC#2 – Rabbit Holes & Westworld Season 2
Tagged 2018, Review, SciFi, TV
Happy Podcast Day! (That’s not a holiday.. it’s just a day where you get the podcast. There will be cake, though)
Hatton is here again with another journey into a new piece of fiction and a review of Westworld Season 2
If you haven’t jumped into the wild westy world, stick around to hear a fairy tale. He reads that first. Then hang out as we discuss all the twists, the turns, the timelines, with Hatton as host! (That has two meanings here.)
Rob and I have started PILOT SEASON over at the SomethingCast Patreon. And you can help out Rob at his GoFundMe.
Also, this episode is being SIMULPOSTED at HattonStuff.com!

SH#1 – The Magic Trick
Tagged 2018, Bonus
Good morning everyone!
Hatton here – and this is the first episode where it’s just me ♫ allll byyy myyysellllffff ♫
Please don’t forget, you can still catch Rob & myself over at the SomethingCast Patreon. And help out Rob at his GoFundMe.
So what is this?
I don’t know yet – but I do know that there is a good chance one day Rob is going to come on back for Episode #121, so I have to keep his seat warm. That means that I have to figure out new stuff to do and altogether interesting spins to take. The first thing is that this is the first episode that is being simulposted over at HattonStuff.com, and depending how it goes, it might stick around there too.
I discuss a little E3, and then get to the tacks of this ep, some fiction reading and some stumbling over what to do next.
So please, drop a line and let me know what you want to hear next. Til then, I hope you enjoyed what you heard first.
Ok, here we go!
120 – Deadpool 2 & Major Show Update
Tagged 2018, Comic Book, Movies, ReviewIt was inevitable… them making a Deadpool 2. So join the Somethings as they sit and breakdown the Merc With A Mouth’s Second Attempt At Greatness!
And where that’s the bulk of the episode, there is a lot more to talk about.
This episode, for the foreseeable, is the last for Podcast Rob. As you’ll hear as the bookends to our discussion about Deadpool, sometimes you just need to shuffle some things up to make life work, and for now, the show has to go. I (this is Hatton by the way) wish him nothing but the best. I hope once his world settles down, he’ll come back around, if I have a microphone, there will always be a second one waiting for him.
With that said, at the time of this recording, Rob’s father was hospitalized due to a constant battle with cancer. Since the recording of this episode, his father has passed. On behalf of Rob and his sister, I’ve set up this GoFundMe account to help them keep their head above water through these hard times. If you can, please help out.
Now – with all that said…
Here we go!
